"Behold, I make all things new." - Rev 21:5

7.16.2010

Why?

No amount of wise words, advice, apologies or excuses that cover up our lack of grace can make us love God unless we allow ourselves to recognize our blessedness, sufferings, sinfulness, and the God-shaped hole burning to be filled by its rightful owner in the core of our whole being.

Oftentimes, it's hard to see God because we put ourselves in front of Him. We make ourselves a BIGGER deal than the One who created everything - who is everything.

I know that in one way or another every living being can attest to the struggles of falling and rising; to the beauty of unconditional love and mercy - but sometimes, not enough of the latter. The thing with sin is that it's the cycle of death. It numbs you to the guilt, and rusts your conscience. The less and less we fight to seek God no matter how much we've failed, the more and more that our pride joins forces with sin to blind us from even remembering who we are meant to be.

There are days when I live in fear because I'm afraid of losing my life. There are days when I would rather give up than fight - when I start to ask myself the wrong questions: Will I end up alone? Will they hate me? What will I lose? What if I lose?

Sometimes, I feel as if we live in pretense; we push away guilt that's calling us to repent, we push away the pain that's calling us to suffer, and therefore endure the bearing of our crosses, we try to get to heaven without dying first.

This, my friend, just cannot be.

Every day, every hour, every minute, and even every second present themselves as opportunities to let God make all things new - to mold us into new creations.

Get to know yourself again: who do you want to be?

And Why?
